SMARTsemi put FLASH eMMC Components into Drive with new Automotive Grade Class-2 (Wide Temperature) Devices

What is AEC-Q100 Grade 2
AEC-Q100 is a failure mechanism-based stress test used to qualify packaged integrated circuits for automotive applications. This specification has been established by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) to define qualification requirements and procedures for packaged integrated circuits used in the automotive industry. An AEC-Q100 qualified device means that the device has passed the specified stress tests and guarantees a certain level of quality/reliability. There are four temperature ranges defined in AEC-Q100. Grade 2 refers to components that operate in the -40oC to +105oC range (also referred generally as wide-temperature range).
Applications
AEC-Q100 Grade 2 devices are commonly used in the cabin compartment of vehicles for applications including information, navigation, environmental, and entertainment systems.
In addition to automotive applications, the wide operating temperature makes the devices ideal for integration into equipment for rugged or extreme environments including industrial robotics, defense electronics, and communications.
